Last night, Alan of Foetry more or less "interviewed" me for a podcast. Ginger Pennebaker sat in for some of it. It should be up at the Foetry website in a week or two. I'll link to it from here.

Trochee's identity is known. The little man would be better off hanging up the mask for now, unless he wants to be exposed.
No, Alan! Actually, it's my wife who's in all of the online magazines that her friends edit. I don't want to ruin her reputation!!! You know the deal.
Agent Trochee is Ismael Archbold, a guy who writes bad poems that no one, not even online magazines, will publish.
Ismael who? That means nothing to me. Outing people on their blogs isn't cool.
And Poetry Snark is really John Lennon, a well known musician.
How could outing him ruin him? Ismael Ricardo Whateverthefuck Archbold hasn't accomplished anything to be ruined or tainted by the outing. Unless blowing his Snark cover is personally ruinous to him.... that could be true, this is one of the few outlets he has available for his, ahem, creative writing.
Isn't it telling how just about all of the anonymous Foetry and Snark people are either not poets at all, or just very fucking bad poets? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... !!!!!

You're right about one thing though: I've been a lazy bum, but it's only been a few months, really. This site hasn't even been around a year. I guess it must feel like a year though to such an ardent fan as yourself.

I had never thought to ask but have we met and I simply don't recall? [shrug] It's true, I have been known to drink alot but that is not how the whole Trochee thing got out. But I am not the sort to point fingers and this is not really a matter of any importance, so why fuss, right? But yes, the persona known as Agent Trochee is me. So what? What amuses me is how folks take things so personally all the time, as if it all really matters. The reason, as I recall it being discussed, for anonymity was for those reasons. It is near impossible to make fun, absurd or, at times, mean-spirited remarks for the sake of humour (&, to not cut corners, provocation) without folks getting totally bent out of shape and confusing the show for the person. Oh but there is little satisfaction from a theatre of the internet and I will be the first to admit that I came to be bored with the whole thing (& busy besides) and spent more time working on other projects. So, no one has taken anything from me or done me any real harm - as ever, as anyone who knows me well enough, I am indifferent.
It is a fool that takes another fool seriously. So, I thank you & the rest for this bubbly affair, for making fools of us all and so this Akla-Seltzer of a moment, a taste of medicine if you will, is just what I need rid me of such gas.

My question for Ismael is, if Trochee is just a "persona," why does your Live Journal (under your real name) contain many of the same sentiments and employ the same style, more or less, as your Trochee posts? The same goes for your often caustic and snarky comments in the Choriamb community. Don't blow off your actions on this blog as merely the ravings of a "persona," that's fucking weak.
Hey anonymous, the real question is: if you think he sucks so bad, why do you read his blog?

my posts on my LJ often do not discuss poetry and when they do, they are copied out remarks from an article or essay or links to a poet/poem.
as for my "often caustic & snarky comments" at Choriamb, I would hardly consider my comments caustic or snarky though i am forceful, direct and, at times, argumentative, but with a number of folks agreeing with me, well, it seems little cause for alarm. if it were, i imagine i would have been banned.
as i have said previously, i take responsibility for most perceived & actual ill i may have caused. to provide an analogy - if this had been a variety or skit show like SNL, it would all be written off as comedy, good or bad, whatever but since there is conception of a theatre for the internet, given the high degree of no-imagination & hyper-sensitivity amongst a cross-section of readers (here & elsewhere), it falls on me to bear the fullness of said persona. so be it. and what now, Anonymous, would you have of me?
yes, the style of some of my LJ entries and the Trochee posts are similar. chalk that up to a lack of effort, illness, intoxication or whatever suits you; doesn't matter. if one is incapable of seeing the thickness of irony of my Trochee remarks and my actual person, it is because you haven't (a) the foggiest notion of who i am &/or (b) you are dense thicket of trained subjectivity.
